In this year where the world has moved onto all digital platforms, LCC International University was proud to announce its partnership with Cybint, the global education company, to offer the first university Bootcamp partnership in Europe. The launch of LCC’s Global Cyber Technology Center is the next step forward as the University aims to become an organizational focal point for educational initiatives and resources related to cyber training of the diverse learning and business communities at local, regional, and international levels.

LCC’s Global Cyber Technology Center will focus on a range of activities including running the cybersecurity Bootcamp as well as providing other high-quality, market-driven training that will help clients close skill gaps. One of the Center’s goals is to promote awareness and dissemination of emerging technologies such as blockchain, distributed ledger technology, and artificial intelligence. The Center will focus on educational events with monthly webinars on the broad topics of cybersecurity. The very first webinar is to take place on Friday, May 7, 2021. The webinar will focus on the new global financial platform, Digital Yuan, and explain its impact and significance worldwide. Also included in the webinar we will dissect issues related to privacy, domestic and international trade, and the Belt and Road initiative among other issues.

While providing a North American liberal arts educational model, LCC International University has always trained its graduates in a unique, future-oriented style of education. Naturally, digital education and fluency are a part of that. The Cyber Technology Center will not only serve the University community, but will also provide training in order to close the employment gap in the region, raise awareness in cybersecurity education and help defend against a rising number of cyber threats against people, organizations, and governments worldwide.

The LCC Cybersecurity Bootcamp done in partnership with Cybint is the first cyber-focused Bootcamp in the region. The 24-week, part-time, hands-on, practical certificate training program will be offered in the fall and the spring of 2022. The entire program is done online, in English.

“Finding ourselves in such high-risk geopolitical surroundings, we as Lithuanians need to put maximum focus and resources on lowering the risk of cyberattacks aimed at our government, our economy, and our general population,” says Tadas Vizgirda, Chairman of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania. “The current lack of cybersecurity talent in Lithuania not only threatens our national security but can also adversely affect the way we conduct our businesses and our personal lives.”

LCC’s Global Cyber Technology Center will be led by Dr. Jeff Teo, who first arrived at LCC as a 2020 Fulbright Faculty Scholar. He will be teaching and promoting cybersecurity initiatives. In 2017, he was appointed Professor of Cybersecurity and Chair of the Department at Bluefield College. Prior to Bluefield College, he was a Professor of Cybersecurity at Montreat College from Fall 2004 to Spring 2017. As lead faculty, he created, designed, and launched the college’s Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity, a first among private colleges and universities in North Carolina. Under Dr. Teo’s leadership and vision, the institution became the first CCCU college/university to receive the coveted National Security Agency/Department of Homeland Security (NSA/DHS) designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (NSA CAE CD).

“I am delighted and honored to serve as the inaugural director here at LCC International University, where this Global Cyber Technology Center will be a focal point for educational initiatives for cyber training and the promotion of awareness and dissemination of emerging technologies,” shared Dr. Teo.
